Isolators
Mock-up studies
Our mock-up studies are a central component of the concept phase and an important step before the detailed design of an isolator.
These studies take place during the design phase and make it possible to test operating procedures and process sequences at an early stage. The aim is to ensure optimum ergonomics of the isolator and guarantee a smooth and fast start to production.
As part of the mock-up studies, 1:1 models of the isolator are created. These models are intensively checked and tested together with end users and experts on the customer side, but the creation of a mock-up is an extremely complex and time-consuming process that requires maximum precision.
What makes a mock-up so time-consuming?
- Detailed customisation:Each mock-up is individually manufactured in 1:1 scale, which means that all customer-specific requirements must be taken into account.
- Variety of materials: Most components are made from high-quality metal materials to ensure a realistic replica. At the same time, variable parts are flexibly manufactured from materials such as cardboard to make changes and customisations easier to implement.
- Comprehensive tests and inspections: During the mock-up study, everything is measured and documented down to the smallest detail to ensure that the final isolator meets the highest standards.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration: Teams from technical project management, the qualification department, research & development (R&D) and sales are involved in the mock-up study. This close collaboration between all experts ensures that all aspects of the isolator are taken into account.
Once the mock-up study has been completed, detailed documentation is produced containing all the findings, adjustments and measurement results. This is signed by all parties involved and serves as a central record of the decisions made.
Why is the effort justified?
A mock-up is more than just a model:
- It serves to identify errors and problems at an early stage before they can occur in the detailed design or production - which prevents subsequent corrections and considerable additional costs.
- Precise preparation enables a frictionless production start, which saves time and costs in production.
- It ensures optimal ergonomics for the end user, increasing efficiency and satisfaction during subsequent operation.
We understand that creating a mock-up involves costs. At the same time, we would like to emphasise that the benefits and long-term savings from early error prevention and optimisation more than justify this investment.
