Decontamination with hydrogen peroxide

Service: Decontamination with hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂)

Safe. Residue-free. Validated. For cleanrooms, isolators and laboratory equipment.

Decontamination with hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) is a modern, highly effective method for the microbial sanitation of cleanrooms, microbiological safety cabinets, isolators and other GMP-relevant equipment and environments. As a certified specialist provider, FASTER offers you reliable and standard-compliant implementation - safe, validated and economically efficient.

Your product benefits at a glance

  • Safe, residue-free process
  • Validated process with documented effectiveness (6 log germ reduction)
  • Decontaminable: volumes of up to 500 m³
  • No subsequent cleaning required
  • Gentle on health and low odour
  • Decomposition of H₂O₂ after the process into oxygen and water using a catalyser
  • Carried out by TÜV and FASTER-certified specialist technicians
  • Why H₂O₂ instead of formaldehyde?

Compared to conventional fumigation with formaldehyde, hydrogen peroxide offers many decisive advantages:

    • Significantly lower health risk for personnel
    • No toxic residues or subsequent neutralisation necessary
    • Significantly shorter process duration
    • Environmentally friendly: Decomposes into water and oxygen after decontamination
    • Compliant with international standards (e.g. 21 CFR Part 11, GMP)
  • Areas of application
    • Microbiological safety cabinets (Class I, II, III)
    • Isolators & airlock systems
    • Cleanrooms & GMP production areas
    • Filling systems, sampling cabinets
    • Research and development laboratories
    • Clinical or pharmaceutical environments
  • Fast and clean: decontamination with the FASTER NHP system
    • Hydrogen peroxide is a largely stable liquid compound of hydrogen and oxygen and a strong oxidising agent that is ideal for decontamination and sterilisation due to its broad spectrum of activity. In the process, a solution of hydrogen peroxide is vaporised and blown into the area to be cleaned. The complete decontamination of a safety cabinet only takes around one to two hours and achieves a statistically proven germ reduction of 1,000,000 (6 log reduction).
    • FASTER uses the most powerful generator currently available on the market: the FASTER NHP generator, a mobile unit from the world's largest manufacturer of microbiological safety cabinets and isolators.
    • Thanks to its mobility, the hydrogen peroxide generator can be quickly connected to the relevant safety cabinet or isolator, which is then decontaminated with H2O2 in a recirculation system. All surfaces of the work area, as well as areas such as the return air duct, fans and filters, are evenly vaporised with H2O2. The quantity of hydrogen peroxide is individually adjusted to the size of the appliance in question. The fumigation cycle is checked using chemical (CI) and biological (BI) indicators. The FASTER NHP system can also be used to decontaminate rooms up to 500 m³ without any problems.
    • A slight negative pressure during the process guarantees that H2O2 does not escape unintentionally. In addition, the surrounding area is monitored using a measuring device from Dräger Polytron. Once decontamination is complete, the H2O2 is broken down by a catalyser into the harmless decomposition products oxygen and water, which are discharged via a special HEPA H14 filter.
  • Decontamination with the FASTER NHP system

    Highly efficient. Mobile. Validated.

For H₂O₂ fumigation, FASTER uses the powerful and validated NHP system, which is based on the cold fogging of 35-59% hydrogen peroxide. This system enables a homogeneous distribution of the active ingredient in the circulation process and achieves a log6 reduction in the germ load on all surfaces - even in hard-to-reach areas such as

    • Fan units
    • filter housings
    • air ducts
    • Internal surfaces and rear panels

    Process characteristics:

    • Duration of decontamination: approx. 1-2 hours
    • Max. Room size: up to 500 m³ (single device or room)
    • Automated H₂O₂ dosing depending on volume & contamination
    • Continuous monitoring of the process using Dräger Polytron
    • Uniform vaporisation of all surfaces using an air circulation system

Once decontamination is complete, the H₂O₂ is decomposed into H₂O and O₂ via a catalyser. These decomposition products are safely removed by a HEPA H14 filter system.

  • Professional implementation by certified specialists

Decontamination is carried out exclusively by specially trained specialist personnel who are certified both internally by FASTER and externally by TÜV. Every application is documented and optionally validated, so that you receive complete proof of effectiveness and compliance with the applicable standards for internal audits or external inspections.

    Safety through:

    • Continuous process monitoring (concentration, temperature, time, humidity)
    • Real-time measurement with H₂O₂ sensors in the device and environment

    • Fulfilment of all workplace limit values (AGW)
    • Indicator-controlled process confirmation (chemical & biological)
